Job Title: VP of Human Resources and Administration

Department: Human Resources & Administration

Reports To: President/CEO

Direct Report(s): Staff in Human Resources and Administration

Classification: Exempt

Location: Hybrid

Role:

Strengthen the credit union's competitive position by developing its human assets on an individual and organization-wide basis thereby becoming and maintaining the credit union as an employer of first choice.  Provide the administrative infrastructure to meet and exceed the expectations of internal customers served.  Consult with the CEO and the Management Team on issues dealing with human resource development and administrative service

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

20% - (Feedback) - Serves as a member of the Executive Team providing input on human resources, and organizational development.  As the leader of human resources and administration, exemplifies the credit union philosophy and action delivering exceptional internal customer service.

20% - (Employee Development & Management) - Oversees recruiting, hiring, orienting, training and evaluation processes of staff and management to ensure continued quality service and high productivity.

20% - (Leadership) - Manages Human Resources and Administration providing continuous communication, individual training, team and organization development and evaluation to enhance awareness, skills and knowledge to produce value-added results in a technologically demanding work environment.

5% - (Communication) - Consults with individual managers and staff members to solicit feedback and advise them on issues dealing with performance expectations, policies and management initiatives.

15% - (Policy Compliance) - Develops all human resource related documents and information that communicate organizational requirements and expectations in compliance with credit union policy and all State and Federal rules and regulations.

5% - (Product Development) - Creates, administers and modifies an internally equitable and competitive compensation system and benefits package that attracts and retains a highly qualified staff and management team.

15% - (Resource Administration) - Manages to conform to the credit union's changing operational and image requirements as a full service technologically advanced financial institution.

Expectations:

  1. Keep executive team and management attuned to emerging trends in human resources and administration.
  2. Ensure the credit union is always in compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws
  3. Keep the CEO and executive team connected with any isolated or inter-connected organizational problems and proposed solutions.
  4. Maximize the skill sets and responsiveness of human resource and administration staff to respond to the changing needs of staff and management

Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to communicate clearly and be readily understood in English in all verbal and written communications from one-on-one situations to groups as large as 100.
  2. Ability to read, input and extract information from a CRT.
  3. Ability to gather and analyze data, develop trends/forecasts, analyze written financial/statistical results, prepare budgets and write reports transforming complex information into easy-to-understand and usable information.
  4. Ability to exercise good judgment, solve complex problems and represent the interests of the credit union to multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Ability to participate in meetings in increments of 2-3 hours and attend meetings at different credit union locations, after/before normal business hours and on weekends.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in a Supervisory/Management position. Senior executive team member and 5 years of credit union Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required , Master’s degree preferred
  • Certifications: SHRM SPHR or similar certification preferred
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and human interactive skills and ability to interface with colleagues and direct reports in a team supportive environment
  • Other Skills: Current knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations to ensure legal compliance. Working knowledge of human resource and credit union systems
