General Description: The Credit Union Manager is responsible for the ongoing management of all aspects of the credit union activities and has responsibility for ensuring financial stability commensurate with the best interests of the members, and the employees. The Credit Union Manager is also in charge of cash handling, training staff members, auditing services, and ensuring a safe, productive work environment for the staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor the credit union's progress and make approved changes for the branch to grow. Assist the Credit Union in achieving its long term goals and objectives and provide strong leadership to fulfill the credit union’s core strategy and vision. Cultivate and inspire within the branch that is in alignment with AIRCO’s culture and values.
  • Manage and influence the branch profitability with a particular emphasis on developing relationships and expanding the sales culture and process across sponsor company offices.
  • Plans and directs all credit union activities in accordance with established credit union policies.
    • Including the recommendation and implementation of programs and policies, direction of staff, operations planning and assistance to the board of directors in long-range planning and policy development, to ensure that credit union goals and objectives are being met.
    • Periodically reviews all credit union policies and makes recommendations for change to the board of directors as necessary.
  • Ensures that the branch is in compliance with federal laws and regulations set forth by appropriate State and Federal regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures complete financial, statistical, and accounting records of the credit union.
  • Directly responsible for developing the annual budget and capital equipment expenditure forecast for expense items affecting the.
  • Responsible for cost control measures and explanation of budget variances to ensure and/or improve branch profitability.
  • Prepares the credit union’s annual operating budget and plan to present to the board for approval. Maintain control over audit procedures to ensure compliance with existing regulations and Credit Union controls.
  • Responsible for reporting any weaknesses identified for process improvement.
  • Makes periodic progress reports concerning plan and budget status.
  • Ensures that all assets and employees of the credit union are properly insured and bonded, and is responsible for implementing adequate security safeguards for the credit union.
  • Defines appropriate limitation of authority for loan processors and credit committee and ensures understanding of credit union loan policies and procedures.
  • Submits to appropriate regulatory and government officials all information required by law or requested from the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains responsibility for all activities related to the investment function, including the development procedures necessary to ensure that safety, liquidity, and yield are considered in all credit union investment decisions.
  • Ensures that marketing efforts adequately communicate the value of the credit union membership and services.
  • Responsible for overall management, supervision and production results of the branch. Directly supervise all AIRCO employees. Provide leadership that ensures supervisory responsibilities are effectively and efficiently carried out by subordinates in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Prior supervisory experience is required.
  • Increase marketing for AFCU to increase and retain members
  • Plans, organizes, and executes AFCU events (annual meetings and related events),
  • Other duties as assigned by AIRCO Federal Credit Union Board of Directors & Chairman of the Board.


Position Requirements (Skills, Work Experience, Education, Certifications, Licenses, etc.):

  • Minimum experience in:
    • Accounting: 3-5 years (Required)
      • Strong understanding of accounting and GAAP.
    • Supervisory: 3 years (Required)
    • Banking: 5 years (Required)
    • Lending: 3 years (Preferred)
  • College Degree in either Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
  • Must have working knowledge of financial institution products and services. At least one year of banking experience in a financial institution is required. Thorough knowledge of credit union loan products and applicable policies and standards and excellent understanding of government regulations and legal requirements are required.
  • Experience in preparing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to multi-task and bring projects to timely completion.
  • Must be organized, self-disciplined and detail-oriented with the ability to manage and juggle multiple projects. Persistent and dependable, especially in meeting deadlines; able to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Must have basic to intermediate leadership skills with the ability to develop staff, provide ongoing coaching and grow individuals (i.e. coach Assistant Branch Manager up to AVP, Branch Manager level). Ability to develop processes and to organize information.
  • Proficient use Word for Windows, MCIF system, EXCEL, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications, as well as the ability to learn new applications quickly; requires general knowledge of network and database use. Experience using Workforce Management tools or systems.
  • Ability to work with both internal and external customers and the AIRCO Federal Credit Union Board of Directors improving business processes.
  • Good written and oral communication skills (phone, in person, and via email)
  • Great Customer Service skills
  • Knowledgeable with banking software
